Rochford Lodge opens in the Macedon Ranges

An old school house in the Macedon ranges dating back to 1857 has been converted into Victoria’s newest luxury retreat. Loving restored by local travel agent Greg Ashmore, Rochford Lodge is the reinvention of the old Rochford School House – a historic landmark building with soaring vaulted ceilings, a grand open fire-place and bordered by century old Cyprus trees – into a luxury self contained retreat for just one couple.

Perched high on Rochford Hill in the heart of the Victorian Central Highlands, the interior abounds in luxury and comfort with organic toned furnishings and overstuffed sofas, a chic modern sun filled gallery with stone walled shower complete with L’Occitane Provence amenities and a timber dining and observation deck.

Rochford LodgeWhile The Old School House itself is just for one couple, the property also contains a three-bedroom cottage, the Principals Residence, which is also available for bookings separately or to compliment a stay with guests in The Old School House.

A character filled country home full of rustic charm, the Principal’s Residence was originally built as a simple miners cottage in 1870, and has since been extended in stages over the last century.

No English gardens, no pot pourri, no floral bedspreads, its rustic Victorian landscape with smart chic accommodation.
