Goulburn Heritage Tourism Walks and Tours

Learn about Goulburn’s origins as Australia’s first inland city or discover the Goulburn of the 1890s authoress Miles Franklin, who famously wrote ‘My Brilliant Career’. It features many of the sites mentioned in her books and journals and identifies places that she would have recognised in her numerous trips to the city.

The first steam railway in Australia was not a project of the NSW Government; nor was it a Sydney venture. The first steam railway was conceived in Goulburn and built by a private enterprise company controlled by Goulburn interests.

A special self-guided tour identifying Goulburn’s significant rail heritage sites has been created to commemorate the 150th anniversary of rail in NSW.
